To the family,

Mr. Mathews was one of the coolest teachers I had at Timken, he was friendly and because he had graduated high school with my mother and also knew my father i felt that he always had my back.

I was very sorry to hear he had passed away, I hadn't seen him in a few years because I live in Atlanta but every time I would visit Canton and would run into him he would always check to make sure I was doing good and ask about my mom and family.

Sending my prayers and condolences to all his family and friends and thank you Mr. Mathews for always being there!

To Smitty Mathews and his family and Butch’s children. I met Fred about 50 years ago . My husband Big Ed was his cousin. My two sons Ted and Tony were very fond of Fred. I saw him about two weeks ago. He was telling me that Fara is a student in the early college program. I hope she continues. My granddaughter Ayanna is a senior in the program. May God bless and keep all of you

To the Matthews Family

We, our personal family and our friends at McDonalds in Waynesburg, extend our sincerest sympathy. We are all saddened at the loss of such a dear person. We are all certain you know the wonderful person our friend, Fred was.

His presence and his smile is sadly missed, may God bless all of you and feel certain heaven is now a better place because "our dear friend Fred" is there. He was always fun to chat with and very respectful to all he met.

Our love to all!
