DELORES JONES Obituary

Delores Jones was born September 26, 1944 to the Late Nona Banks and Don Banks in Minden, West Virginia.

On December 1, 2022 she climbed onto the stairway to heaven and entered her eternal rest in the arms of her daughter Missy.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, grandparents, husband William Jones, son Mark J. Jones, grandson Angelo Banks, brother Don Banks and sister Clarissa Muhammad.

 

Delores attended the Akron Public Schools graduating from East High school.  She moved to New York City where she worked at New York Bell. She then moved backed to Ohio where she was employed by the Broadview Developmental Center and Arcadia Home Health. 

 

In her own last words, She said profoundly:  I love my family!

She did that and a whole lot more, practically raising the whole eastside.  She was extremely loving, nurturing, giving and a One-of-a-Kind, mother.  She was wise beyond measure and giving advice was one of her special gifts.  If you got to sit under her tutelage you were blessed. 

 

She was a member of the Eight is Enough and the Juke Box clubs.  She Loved her dog Lucky, to play the slots at the Casino, to listen to her favorite artist- “her man” Gerald Levert, collecting elephants and she worked with excellence with her green thumb with her flower garden and plants.  Duffy loved the Lord and attended the Arlington Street Church of God and Bethel Baptist Church.

 

She leaves to cherish her beloved memory her children Angelo ( Michelle) Banks, Antoinette Jones from Akron, OH. Annette (Rajoh) McCormick of Charlotte, N.C and Marcus (Tracey) Jones of Columbus OH. Marcy Stewart, Derrick (Lisa) Jones of Cleveland, OH. Felicia Cash of Akron, OH. and Erica (Lance) Reed of Jackson, MS. Ian, India, and Indica Banks of Charlotte, NC. God-son; Cheyviante’ McWain Sr. of Akron, OH. and son-in-love Eric Roberson of Akron, OH.  Brother, Anthony (Bridget) Banks of Barberton, OH. Sister, Ida McCalister of Akron, OH. Brother, Michael (Delora) Banks and Clarence (Theresa) Banks and Jesse Bank of Akron, OH. Sister-in-laws Joyce Milton of Chunky, MS and Shelvy Montena and Janice Garcia of Houston, TX.  Best Friend, Margaret Towns of Akron, OH and Lily of Berea, OH. 55 grandchildren, 128 great grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren.  And a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
