Willie James Montgomery, Jr. was born August 22, 1951 in Montgomery, Alabama to the late Willie James Montgomery, Sr. and Laura Montgomery. He was called to Heaven’s gates on April 22, 2021, where he joined his parents; sisters, Vernetta Pinson, and Deborah F. Wittenberg, as well as his late wife Gloria Gene Montgomery.
At an early age he accepted Christ and was an active member of East Side Baptist Church. Willie Jr. Attended Canton City Schools and was a former employee of Republic Steel (Berger Division). He also lived in Fresno, California and Las Vegas, Nevada.
Willie Jr. had many nick names and was lovingly referred to as Jr., Johnson, or Ten Spot by his family and close friends. He had a heart of gold and would do anything for his family and friends. Willie Jr. expressed his love through his actions and was instrumental in the raising of his siblings and children. He suffered a stroke a number of years ago, but never gave up on life and maintained his independence. He loved to laugh, joke, fish, listen to music, and be with family.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his son, Rico (Temeah) Person and his mother Mary; his life-long partner, Theresa Shipp and their eight children: (4) daughters, Alicia (Anthony) Toney, LaShonda Montgomery, Talisa Montgomery, Shelly (Seth) Jones, (5) sons, Willie James (Tanika) Montgomery III, Travis Montgomery, Sr. Rahasson (LaKeshia) Davis, and De’Anté Montgomery all of Canton, Ohio, Justin (April) Montgomery of Bowie, Maryland, Frederick Montgomery of Augusta, Georgia, and Lora Arnold of Annapolis, Maryland; (26) grandchildren, Jhamari, Jordan, Willie James IV, Travis Jr., Tyree, Keira, Jayden, TyShona, Cierra, Kaylesha, Anthony Jr., Kyree, Tamyra, Alyah, Ricara, Denaijha, Juleo, Quejhaun, Rahassona, Raniya, Aaliyah, Jamel, Semiyah, Sion, AarJuan, AarNiyah, and great granddaughter, Nova; special nephews, Ervin Martin and Kevin Montgomery; special nieces, Alycia Gordon and Charnetta Montgomery.
He made many friends during his lifetime, and will be missed by all who knew him.
