On January 29, 2020, Willie Floyd McLeod passed away while residing at Noble Ponds Nursing Home for Hospice Care in Canton, Ohio where he entered his final resting place.
He was born on July 27, 1946 in Dothan, Ala., to the late Willie D. and Cherrie Mae McLeod. He was also proceeded in death by his youngest sister Voncile McLeod on January 19, 2018. Willie was the oldest of his siblings and enjoyed spending time with them whenever possible.
At an early age, Willie gave his life to the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior. He graduated from McKinley High School in 1966. During the course of his life, he developed a love for auto mechanic. So, after graduating from high school, he moved to Detroit, Michigan where he began his career as an auto mechanic with The Chrysler Corporation. He later relocated to Canton, Ohio where he was employed for many years with Hercules Engine Plant. Willie enjoyed fishing and rooting for his favorite NFL team The Browns and NBA team the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Willie leaves to cherish his memories with a son, Willie J. Dukes of Canton, Ohio and a daughter, Angela L. Carr of Leesburg, Ga. Five grandchildren, Joshua Young, Sr. of Los Angeles, Ca., Jaceline Young of Smyrna, Ga, Jessica Young of Columbus, Ga., Senita Carr and Charles L. Carr, III., of Leesburg, GA. Five great-grandsons, Joshua Young, Jr, Josiah Young, Mason Carr, Jace McVay and Jordan McVay. He is also survived by a devoted sister Alice Roberson and three younger brothers, William (Debbie) McLeod, Wayne (Michelle) McLeod and Sam (Denise) McLeod all of Canton, Ohio. Two aunts, Leatrice McLeod of Canton, Ohio and Viola Bryd of Birmingham, Ala. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He will truly be missed.
