WILLIE JOHNSON Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Willie Johnson, 1/17/44 -5/10/25, 80, of Akron Ohio. Willie is preceded in passing by his father WC Kimbrough and Silas Johnson, his loving mother Lillian Matthews Thomas, Sister Juanita Ivey, and brother Jerry Johnson, as well survived his loving wife Lanina Johnson, his three children Tamara Johnson Dorsey Dale (LaToya) Johnson, and Cherie McLean, and host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunt and uncles. Willie served in the United states Marine Corps, as a Military Police Officer from 1962-1966, and was on Military Golden glove boxing team. Willie held a multitude of bodybuilding contest titles Most Muscular, The best back, Mr. North America, competed in the Mr. World, Mr America, placing very high and many more. A beloved member of our community whose kindness and warmth touched everyone he met. Willie was a pillar of love, generosity, and laughter, always ready with a helping hand and an encouraging word. His presence was a source of comfort, and his smile could light up the darkest of days. 

Willie’s life was a testament to compassion and joy. He embraced friends as family and strangers as friends, embodying the values of kindness and inclusivity. His legacy will live on in the countless lives he uplifted and the memories he created with those fortunate enough to know him. 

As we say goodbye, we celebrate the life he lived and the love he shared. Willie Johnson will always be remembered, cherished, and profoundly missed. We would like to send a special Thank you to pastor Norman and Cynthia Taylor and the members of living for Christ ministries for their compassion and kindness in the time of need.
