Willa Dean Backie, affectionately known as “Dean”, entered into eternal rest on January 21, 2026. She was born on May 5, 1955, to Calip and Carol Backie. Dean was a proud graduate of McKinley High School, class of 1974. Dean was a woman of strong faith and unwavering devotion to God. She was known for always pleading the blood of Jesus over her family and over everyone she loved, believing wholeheartedly in the power of prayer, protection, and divine covering. Her prayers were constant, heartfelt, and filled with love. Family meant everything to Dean. She was deeply family-oriented and poured her heart into caring for, supporting, and nurturing those closest to her. Her love was steadfast, her presence comforting, and her dedication to her family unmatched. Dean retired from Aultman Hospital after 15 years of faithful service. She also served diligently at Deliverance Christian Church as the Administrative Assistant under Pastor Warren P. Chavers, and later as a devoted member of the Greeters Ministry under the leadership of Pastor Gabriel Chavers. Her service reflected her kind spirit and her commitment to welcoming others with warmth and grace. Dean leaves to cherish her loving memory: her daughter, Tiffani D. Chavers (Warren); her son, Kerry A. Davis; her sister Elder Renee Backie, and her grandchildren, Khalid, Khalil, Khalik, Khalin, Samuel, Christopher, Kaleb, Zy, Shazzy, and Kerrion; two great-grands—Alaia and Khaliah; Nieces with whom she shared a close bond—Lesa Nance, Roxanne Nance, Sharonda Johnson and Tesha Shipman, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and others she loved dearly. Her legacy of faith, family, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
