SHERYL PRESSLEY “DOTTIE” Obituary

Sheryl “Dottie” Pressley transitioned to eternity on Sunday, August 7, 2022. She was born on September 30, 1958, to Stephen and Mary Evelyn Pressley.

Dottie began singing with her siblings under her mother’s training at a young age. This led to her singing around the city with them as she came into her own as what you all may describe as a "power house" soloist. She sang with many groups and choirs while traveling with the likes of Under New Management and could be heard at every Midnight Musical around Ohio. Even singing background vocals and duets with Thomas Whitfield, Douglas Miller, and Rance Allen (may God rest their souls) along with many others during her singing career. “Dottie” loved singing and praising the Lord and she never said no to any opportunity to use her voice to uplift others because she knew her gift was to share the joy of the Lord with everyone.

While living in Pittsburgh for many years, attending Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ, she served in the Music Department under the late Bishop Loren E. Mann & now Pastor Barbara Mann. As she navigated through thoughts of becoming a mother while evolving in Pittsburgh, her time spent working at A Second Chance Adoption Agency, brought her son Matthew his second chance. After one selfless, life altering decision after another, she came back to Ohio to support her loving parents in the wake of her mother's declining health. Her passion for caring for children lead her to touch many souls just from working at Allen School to then throughout the Canton City School system by the likes of the Leila Green Talent Show, the Martin Luther King Celebrations, and most notably: The Quest Drug Prevention Program which past students still appreciate and remember her for.

As a licensed evangelist, she was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Church of God in Christ that raised her and her loving siblings, who her brother "Beef Head" Mike is now pastor of. She served in the music department and spearheaded the development of the new Mt. Zion Community Outreach Organization.

"Baby girl" as her father lovingly referred to as, was preceded in death by her parents Stephen and Mary Evelyn Haynes Pressley. She leaves to cherish her memories her son, Matthew, who returned home to care for his Mother as she did for hers, siblings Stephen Jr (Grace) Pressley of Akron, Marsha Pressley, Selena Johnson and Rev. Michael (Yvonne) Pressley, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and every God child and close friend whose hearts she will forever live in.
