ROBERT SMITH Obituary

Robert Lee Smith went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 23, 2020.  He was born February 17, 1955 in Youngstown, Ohio to the late Fred and Bessie Smith.

Robert accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior at an early age and was a member of St. James AME Zion where he sang with the Male Chorus and served in many other capacities in the church. Robert loved music and loved to sing and sang with Pastor Anthony Robinson and SBC. Robert was a prayer warrior and would not hesitate to pray on the spot for anyone requesting prayer.

Robert was a U.S. Navy veteran and received an honorable discharge. He retired from Republic Steel and was previously employed at Resco Product.

He leaves to cherish his memory wife Robin Smith, daughter Akeyla Smith and son Xavier Smith both of Perry Township; brothers Larry Smith of California, Melvin (Margaret) Smith of California and Leon (Marcia) Smith of Texas; sisters Darlene Smith of Youngstown, and Doreen (Donald) Morgan of Warren, Roberta Smith-Jordan of California, special cousin Mack (Jackie) Smith of Jackson Township, and of host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his former wife and the mother of his children Essie Hunt-Smith, brother Oscar Smith and sisters Pamela Phillips, and Donnie Jacobs.

Robert was a kind soul and a gentle man who never met a stranger and cared for everyone he met. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
