RANDALL COLEMAN, SR. Obituary

Randall Edward Coleman, Sr.  was born on September 6, 1943, in Canton,Ohio, to Edward “Peel” Coleman and Rosemary Thomas. He was the oldest of four children.

As a young boy, Randall moved to California to live with his grandmother Mrs.  Primmer. His father, mother, and siblings would soon follow. He attended Manual Arts High School in Los Angeles, California.

Following graduation, Randall joined the U.S. Army. After returning home, he joined Southern Pacific Railroad as a Movement & Control Specialist. In 1966 he married Winifred Stell, and from this union, he had two children, Randall Jr., and Celeste. The two later divorced. Opportunity called once again, and he landed a sales position with Best Foods. After a successful stint as a district manager with the company, Randall was recruited by one of the top headhunting firms in Los Angeles to join Johnson Products as Vice President of sales and marketing. Randall’s marketing strategies were responsible for increasing sales from $28 million to $62million in a short period. This propelled Johnson Products to be the first minority company traded on the American stock exchange.

Randall excelled in his career in Marketing & Sales, and his most promising endeavor was being selected for the covers of Black Enterprise and Forbes Magazine in 1982. In the mid-90s, Randall made his way back to Canton, Ohio, where he started several successful businesses, one being Greenman Marketing. It was one of the largest Minority chemical manufacturing companies in the country. Greenman products could be found in the $.99 stores and in Big Lots across the U.S.

Randall was a man of many talents and had such an outgoing personality that he never met a stranger and was loved greatly by all the lives he touched! Long after his career in Corporate America, he continued to be a successful Entrepreneur throughout the remainder of his life. On July 21, 2007, he married his long time love, Joyce Howell and became the bonus father to two children, Kashun and Jordan.

Randall departed this earthly life on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at 3:12 p.m., at the age of 77. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosemary Thomas, father and step-mother, Edward “Peel” & Juanita S. Coleman, one sister, Cheryl Lacey, one daughter and grandson, Celeste Coleman & Randall Edward Coleman III, who have been waiting to receive him with open arms!
