PAUL MURPHY Obituary

On Friday, September 26, 2025, Paul Murphy, age 78, a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather made his transition from earth to heaven surrounded by his loving family.

Born on October 23, 1946, Paul was the son of the late Olelia Stancil and Chappie Murphy.  He was preceded in death by both his parents.

Paul dedicated 35 years of committed service to the Chrysler Corporation before his retirement. A man of deep faith and steadfast conviction, he was a devoted member of Greater Holy Trinity Church of God in Christ. Paul faithfully served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years and was an active member of the Deacon Board. He also shared his love for music through the church choir and one of the lead singers in the Men’s Quartet.

Paul’s life was a testament to kindness, joy, and compassion. Known for his gentle spirit, sharp wit, and encouraging nature, he had a unique gift for making others feel seen, heard, and valued. Whether offering a helping hand, a word of encouragement, or a perfectly timed joke, Paul had a remarkable ability to bring light into the lives of those around him.

Paul was a true sports lover, especially devoted to all his Cleveland teams. Whether it was football, basketball, or baseball.  He also had a real talent for shooting pool — a game he not only enjoyed but played with great skill and competitive spirit often enjoying friendly games with his son and friends.

He was a devoted husband to Verneita, with whom he shared 50 wonderful years of love, faith, and partnership. Paul was the proud and loving father of two children, Anton and Taleia, who brought him immense pride and joy.

Left to cherish his memories: his beloved wife Verneita; his son Anton; daughter Taleia; daughter in love LaTrecka, and his grandchildren Quandiere, Quaneisha (Michael), Quaneia, Marquell, MJ, and Micayla; and his great-granddaughter Shilo. He is also survived by his siblings: Eugene Stancil, Larry Murphy, Corla Merrit, and Charleia Avents, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends who will deeply miss him.

Paul’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and strength. His presence in our lives was truly a blessing, and though we mourn his passing, we celebrate a life beautifully lived. His memory will forever remain in our hearts.
