Pastor Marion Felton-Hammonds was born on November 5, 1946, to Murray Allen and Missionary Clara Mae Felton in Akron, Ohio where she was a lifetime resident. She was an experienced workshop instructor, effective facilitator, and organizer.
She was a proud alumnus of South High School, graduating in 1964. She was a student of the Word of God; graduating from LOGOS Bible Institute, The Johnson Leadership Institute, The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People Signature Program, Child Assault Prevention Instructor Program, Grief Recovery, Emerge Ministries Pastor’s Summit, and many others.
Marion was born and raised at Wooster Avenue Temple Church of God in Christ. She accepted the Lord and was endowed with the Holy Ghost at the early age of 11. In 2004, she was licensed as an Evangelist Missionary in the Church of God in Christ, Inc. by the late Bishop Walter E. Jordan and Mother Sarah A. Thompson. She was currently a member of The House of the Lord under the leadership of Bishop F. Josephus Johnson where she served in many capacities such as the Department of Ministry, Altar Workers, New Member Orientation, Prophecy, Adjutancy, and Greeters. In 2008, she was licensed as a Minister, then 2017 ordained as a Pastor in the Beth-El Fellowship of Visionary Churches under Presiding Bishop F. Josephus Johnson.
In June 2010, she founded and organized her women’s ministry, Sisters Assisting Sisters (SAS) Ministries. Pastor Marion was committed to unifying, fortifying, and equipping the women she encountered to be victorious. The focus of SAS is to develop and maintain a spirit of excellence in each area of life, compelling women of all ages, races, and denominations to actively walk daily in the power and authority thereof with self-esteem and self-worth provided by the Father.
Marion was an accomplished musician, receiving many awards and playing for almost every church in the city of Akron. She founded the “These Are They” Music Ensemble and worked in many musical endeavors around the city through the years. Always reminiscing about the days of “Joy Night”.
Pastor Hammonds was the devoted wife of Deacon Winston Hammonds and the proud mother of Marion and Meredith. She adored and loved her grandchildren who affectionately called her, “Grammie”. Although she was small in stature, she was a strong and mighty woman of God. She loved her family and friends and would do whatever she could for them, always being there when needed.
On May 25, 2023, God in His infinite wisdom called Pastor Marion from her earthly labor to her heavenly reward surrounded by her loving family.
