On March 9, 2023, the Lord called Nicara Michel’le Thomas home to rest. Affectionately known as “Nikki”, she was born on January 28, 1991, in Massillon, Ohio, to Dale Dennis and the late Ada S. Thomas.
She accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and was baptized at the Bethel Church of Christ Holiness. She developed a passion for praise dancing at a young age and her first solo was “We Must Praise” by J. Moss. She also sang in the children’s choir and volunteered to assist her grandmother, the late Bernice Harris, with the food and clothing ministry.
Nikki graduated from Horizon Science Academy Cleveland High School. Afterward, she continued her education at Ctroneveland State University, Columbus State Community College, Miami Jacob Career College and earned a State Tested Nursing Assistant certification. Shortly after moving to Columbus, Ohio, Nikki began working at Scioto Downs Casino, where she received accolades for her performance. An opportunity presented itself, and she took a position at the Reynoldsburg Post Office as a Sales and Service Associate. She loved interacting with customers and often received praise for her support. Nikki was also a self-motivated entrepreneur, selling Mary Kay and Door Dashing.
Nikki was the proud mother of Elijah and Eliyah Brown; motherhood came naturally to her. She cherished spending time with her children, often taking them to the park and swimming. Nikki also loved spending time with her nieces and nephews. In her spare time, she enjoyed trying new recipes; and as a Mary Kay sales representative, she learned how to apply makeup. Nikki was a caring individual whose personality/laughter was contagious and captivating. She genuinely loved her family and would gladly give you the shirt off her back; she indeed had a golden heart.
She is survived by her two children, Elijah and Eliyah Brown of Columbus, Ohio; father, Dale Dennis (Charlene) of Euclid, Ohio; five siblings, DeAngelo Thomas (Jaquetta) of Germany, Dominique and DiQuan Carpenter of Columbus, Ohio, Navante Thomas of Massillon, Ohio, Dale Dennis Jr. of Cleveland, Ohio, and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ada Thomas; maternal grandmother, Rebecca L. (Miller) Thomas; paternal grandparents, Bernice Mary Harris (Henry) and Howard Marchman; and nurturing cousin, Debbie Dennis.
