Nathaniel J. Mims III. “Little Nate”- 63, passed away peacefully in his sleep and went home to be with the Lord on May 29, 2022.

He was born on January 18, 1958, to his parents, Nathaniel J. Mims II. & Viola Mims in Akron, Ohio. He grew up in Akron, Ohio, attended Akron Public Schools and graduated from South High School in 1976. Nathaniel worked for JoAnn Fabrics where he contributed over twenty years of service, in later years Nathaniel also retired from JoAnn Fabrics. Nathaniel, a very charming fellow who had a love for fashion, fancy cars and having a good time, he was also quite the ladies’ man. He also loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren deeply.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nathaniel J. Mims II. & Viola Mims; Brother, Steven Lee Mims; Grandparents, Nathaniel J. Mims and Edna Mims, as well as Lovell and James Ruple.

He leaves to cherish, his daughter, Dionna (Anthony) Brooks (Akron, OH); Son, Nathaniel Mims IIII. (Akron, OH); Sister, Stephanie Peterson (Akron, OH); Granddaughters, Precious Littlejohn, Khylie Reed and Khyndal Reed (all of Akron, Ohio); Great-Grandsons, Tristan Little and Tru Little (both of Akron, OH); Aunts, Mattie Mims, Joeann (Donald) Washington and Emma James (all of Akron, OH) and Patricia (Steven) Taylor (Pittsburgh, PA); Uncle, Will “Chilly” Mims (Akron, OH); Very special cousin, Denise Ruple (Akron, Ohio);Special neighbor and friend, Jay (Akron, OH); and a host of, cousins, nieces, nephews, close family and friends.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 10, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at Community Friends Church, 220 Lake Street, Akron, OH 44301. Pastor John L. Glenn officiating. Condolences may be sent to 198 Lake Street, Akron, OH 44301.
