Michael D. Hughes affectionately known as “Ike Love” was born to Marica Hughes in Akron, Ohio where he attended Akron Public Schools.
Ike was a gentle giant who filled any room with his smile, laid back demeanor, and soft/raspy voice.
He loved to cook and called himself “Chef Boy-R-Ike, a real chef.” He’d love to make lamb chops, macaroni, and baked goods. Ike also loved to travel and was planning his biggest trip yet to Egypt in January. If you caught him outside, he was either on his way or coming from playing “his numbers”, he loved to gamble; playing cards and shooting dice is where he was most passionate, then you could hear him a mile away!
Michael was a man of few words but his stance on any situation was never misunderstood. Ike was a leader with an entrepreneurial spirit.
In August of 2012 he completed “Career Builder Touch Typing” from Adult Continuing Education after obtaining his GED. July 23, 2020, Michael officially former Malasia’s Touch, LLC. Michael also attended Stark State College majoring in Culinary Arts.
Michael is survived by his mother Marcia Hughes, three children Malasia and Michael Jr. (Rachel Jones), Mic’khia Hughes (Shirley Gregory), and special daughter Terrionna Clark, brother George Hughes (Cleveland, Ohio), nieces Sasha and Gia Hughes. Preceded in death by Eva Hughes, uncles Gary (Linda) and Daryl Hughes. Special lady friend Winner Clayton-Fields. Special cousin Torrod Hopson.
