MICHAELE TARVER Obituary

Michaele LaVerne Tarver, Esquire’s spirit ascended from her earthly remains on Monday, December 19, 2022 for a Home Going with The Lord, Our God.

Michaele was born in Canton, Ohio on January 31, 1958 to Donald Eugene Tarver and the late Eva (Elliott) Tarver as their first born child. She was later joined by four siblings; and remained until her death their inspirational leader in faith, education and service.

Michaele began her academic journey at Roosevelt Elementary School. Afterwards, she attended Hartford Junior High School where she participated in The Glee and Drama Clubs. High School years for Michaele were spent at Canton McKinley High School. Her four years there were notable for many activities including playing clarinet in the band, singing in the Choir, winning awards as a member of the National Forensic League; and being a Canton       Yokettes Cotillion Scholarship winner. Michaele traveled to Munich, Germany as a member of the German Club; and performed featured roles in Drama Club productions such as performing the song, “You Are The Light of The World'' in Godspell. She held office in Class Leadership and was a member of the National Honor Society. Summers were spent working as a lifeguard at  Jackson Pool. She graduated in the Class of 1976.

Michaele enrolled in Wooster College where she served as a cheerleader and excelled academically. In 1980, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and History. She obtained a Master of Arts degree in Public Administration from Kent State University in 1981. Michaele obtained her law degree in 1993 from The Ohio State University. While at OSU Law School, she studied abroad at Oxford University in England. She was licensed to   practice law in the State of Ohio. Michaele held future employment positions at the Licking County Department of Job and Family Services, the Columbus Public Schools as a Parent-Teacher Liaison through 1994. That year she    began a 24-year career as a Property Manager for low-income housing properties as a manager of staff, fiscal     operations and physical premises. Afterwards, she worked as an Assisted Victim Advocate Director for the Licking County Victim Advocate Department and Spectrum Communications.

Michaele Tarver was a lifelong servant of the Lord. She was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in   Newark, Ohio, since 1982. Michaele worshiped at Shiloh under Pastors Charles W. Noble, Sr., PhD. and his          successor, Michael A. Noble, PhD.   She was a past President of Shiloh’s Evangelistic Ministry, the Pastor Shepard’s Ministry, and the Historian’s Ministry. Additionally, she was a member of the Hospitality and Catering Ministry,  Bible Reading Group and  Sunday School. Furthermore, she served as an Eastern Union Missionary Baptist Association Guild Girls Counselor, a founding member of the Advisory Board for Par Excellence Learning Academy, and a Discipleship Bible student. In 1989, Michaele was selected as Shiloh Baptist Church’s Woman of the Year. She was an avid learner and prayer warrior.  Michaele attended the first Presidential Inauguration of Barack Obama. She repeatedly attended The Congress of Christian Education sessions, and The National Baptist Convention U.S.A.   Micheale was known for her wearing decorative hats and scarves, baking the best sweet potato pies, and her love of singing, especially of old spirituals. She had love and loyalty to family and friends, especially Sister Luevoka   Roberts, First Lady Louise Noble of Shiloh Baptist Church and Latraille Scott Barlow.

Michaele LaVerne Tarver, Esq., is survived by her siblings, Marian (Gary) Stocker, Donald Tarver II, M.D., Monica (Andrew Kochanowski) Tarver, M.B.A. and David (Gail Allen) Tarver; Nieces, Eva Roberson, Essie Tarver, Jasmine Tarver, Averi Lii; Step-niece, Melissa  Southward; Aunts, Marian Tarver Fisk, Marlene Elliott, Bertha Baber, and   Judith Tarver; Uncle, Bernard Tarver, Sr.; godchildren, Miranda & Matthew Sheppard, Monica & Myah McMillan; and many beloved cousins, friends, coworkers and church members. 

Michaele was predeceased by her Mother, Deaconess Eva (Elliott) Tarver; Grandparents, Fort and Mary Tarver,  Willie Thornton and Essie  Elliott.  Michaele was a dedicated professional who provided excellence in community and public service. Michaele loved God and Jesus her Savior; the Baptist Church, her family and friends. Two of her favorite sayings were “I’m believing God'' and “To God be the glory!
