Within the Christ-centered family of the late and legendary Hamp and Rena Bickerstaff Stroud, Mary Joyce Moss was born to the late Blanchie Nell Moss on July 11, 1948 in Canton, Ohio.  Mary Joyce transitioned from this life June 26, 2021 in New York, New York.

Mary Joyce attended Canton City Schools and graduated from McKinley High School in 1966.  Soon after graduating, she went to New York and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Queens College of New York.  She also studied and received a degree in art.  In 1999, she was chosen as one of the noted women of the Triboro District in New York by the Diversity Development Committee of the United States Post Office where she served with great distinction earning commendation after commendation for 35 years.

She was an accomplished artist and historian of African History and an avid traveler to Africa.  She enjoyed many cruises especially to the Caribbean.  On weekends she taught African History to the children who attended the cultural center that was sponsored by Saint Catherine’s AME church in New Rochelle, New York.  She also diligently studied the Hebrew culture.

Mary Joyce had one daughter, the late Ranada Yvette Moss, and contributed greatly to raising her two nieces, Cheryl and Alaigeh Moses when her older sister, Patricia Moses passed away.

She loved her family and in 1999 hosted an unforgettable family reunion in New York.  There she connected family roots and notably introduced family to Harlem, Queens, and Brooklyn, NewYork.

Preceding her in passing were her grandparents, mother, daughter, and sister, all previously named.
