MARCO BRIDGEMAN Obituary

Marco Lee Bridgeman, 68, of Alliance, Ohio, transitioned from time to eternity on March 9, 2024.  He was born on February 6, 1956, in Alliance, OH to Alice Bridgeman and John H. Bridgeman Jr.

Marco was the only child and had a passion for sports, particularly baseball, and music. His infectious smile, laughter, and positive attitude endeared him to many. He was a graduate of Alliance High School.

Marco was an accomplished musician, becoming the drummer for the band “Night Shift” in 1973. The band performed top 40’s music, jazz, and funk.  They performed at various venues in Alliance and the surrounding areas. He was known as the band’s “tech expert” and assisted with the copy-write of a CD for the band in later years.

At the age of 25, Marco entered the United States Army Branch of the Armed Forces, serving from 1981 to 1987. His military service was distinguished, earning him several accolades including an Army service ribbon, good conduct medal, overseas service ribbon, army achievement medal, and expert qualification badge with rifle bar. Marco’s expertise in radio teletype and information decoding was recognized when he was being considered for a highly confidential assignment at the White House.  However, due to the requirement of extended separation and the inability to communicate with his family, he declined the offer.

After his military service, Marco pursued a career in general contracting. Marco was known for his craftsmanship, specializing in home maintenance tasks such as roof repair, drywalling, painting, deck construction, etc.  He had a great reputation, and lent his expertise to many residents in the Alliance Community. Marco was known for his charitable work. Following Hurricane Katrina in 2005, he relocated to New Orleans for a few years to assist in the community's recovery efforts.

Marco was deeply rooted in his faith and was actively involved in various ministries in Alliance. Most recently he was a member of Union Avenue United Methodist Church, where he served as a drummer for the praise team for eight years, and was a Trustee for nearly ten years. He served as the drummer at Tabernacle Baptist Church for ten years, and was known for his support and dedication to work at the “Hope House” in Alliance. He was involved with Triumph the Church and Kingdom of God in Christ in his youth.

He was a beacon of love and pride for his daughter and only child, LaToya Bridgeman – Ashé, and cherished his role as a grandfather to Keyona Ashé and Komar Redding.  He never missed an opportunity to express his love, pride, and gratefulness to God for his family.

Marco's memory will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched with his music, craftsmanship, and unwavering faith. He will be dearly missed.

Marco is survived by his daughter, LaToya Bridgeman – Ashé, granddaughter, Keyona Sheridan Ashé, grandson, Komar J. Le’Ran Redding, his bonus daughter, Marquesea McLendon, and a host of beloved cousins, relatives, and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alice Bridgeman and John H. Bridgeman Jr.
