Mable Louise (Turner) Thomas, age 93 was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi to the late James and Lillie Turner on July 29, 1927. She departed this life and gained her heavenly reward on September 9, 2020 following an extended illness.
Mable accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of St. Paul AME Church for over 60 years. She served on the usher board and choir. She was a 1945 graduate of Magnolia Ave High School in Vicksburg. She then went on to attend nursing school in Chicago, IL. She then moved to Canton, Ohio and began her career as a Registered Nurse at Mercy Medical for 40 years. She married Robert Thomas in 1948 and they had one son Stephen LeWayne Thomas.
Mable had many talents she was a baker, a cook, a seamstress and a caregiver. She took care of many families even after she retired from her nursing career. She had a special bond with her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents: James and Lillie Turner; husband, Robert Thomas; sisters, Minerva Turner, Melfonsia Joshua; brothers, James Turner Jr., Freddie Turner, Wardell Turner; stepson, Ollie Thomas
Mable is survived by her son, Stephen Thomas; step-daughter, Eva June Thomas of Los Angeles, California; (8) grandchildren, Harvey Alexander, Marques Thomas, Joshua Thomas, Stevie “Kitty” Thomas, Ryan Thomas, Keschia Potter, Kevin Potter and Zoe Thomas. She also leaves to cherish her memories 14 great-grandchildren and god –daughter, Marcia Adams.
