Lydia Lou Herring “Better known as Lottie” passed away on September 11, 2022, at Mission Point Superior Woods Nursing Home, in Michigan. She was born in Newbern Alabama, on April 10, 1937, to the late Al Herring Sr. and Willie S. Herring.
Lydia was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church. She found Christ at an early age and was baptized at 8 years old. Lydia was a graduate of Akron Central High School and attended Hammel Business College. She worked as Manager many years at Swensons Drive-In until retirement. She also had a dedicated calling being a caretaker for family members. Lydia was a lifelong member of the NAACP and a founding member of the Travel Log Club established in 1975 with her siblings, family members and friends. Travel Log Club was a fellowship of people who mastered fundraising for the sole purpose of exposing family and community to the benefit of travel and cultural awareness.
She is survived by one sister Myrtle Herring (Doll) of Akron Ohio, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Lydia was preceded in death by her brothers Al Herring Jr., Rev. Joseph Herring, James Herrin; sisters: Willie L. Herring, Fannie Beatrice Banks, Georgia Lee Herring, Blanche Mosley Donald, nieces Arethia Johnson, Joanne Miller; nephews Joseph Earl, Demetrius, and Michael Herring.
