LUCY (ARMSTEAD) JONES

Lucy stepped into eternity on Saturday, March 27, 2021 after a sudden  illness.  She was born in Demopolis, Alabama on April 7, 1936 to the late Henry Armstead Sr. and Vinie Hubbard– Armstead.

She was a member of St. Mark’s Baptist Church. Lucy meant the world to her family and friends.  She was an inspiration to many.  Lucy exhibited a tremendous amount of strength all of her life.  She was straight to the point and would tell it like it is.  She did not hold her tongue.  Lucy loved music, especially the blues.  She was the life of the party. 

She was caring and giving and had a heart of gold.  She was also a sports enthusiast, and enjoyed watching Family Feud hosted by Steve Harvey.  Her family always came first.  She adored her children and grandchildren and everyone knew it.  If you knew Lucy, then you knew that her favorite food was fried chicken.  Thank you Lucy Jones for all of the memorable moments that your family and friends will always cherish. 

In addition to her parents, Lucy was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Armstead(Ollie); sisters, Susie Williams and Ollie B. Alexander; son, Anthony Leon Armstead; grandson, Trevin Yorel Clayton; aunties, Nancy Armstead and Aunt Nora; niece, Nancy Lee Clay and Sharon Ellis; nephew, Melvin W. Ellis. 

She leaves to cherish her memories: (1) brother, Henry (Gerri) Armstead Jr.; sons, Rondy (Davida) Jones, Lance (Sharlene) Martin and Leroy Jones; (1) daughter, Lavette Jones; grandchildren, Miguel Nichols, Cedric Bonner, Manny, and Dave Robb Underwood,  Kendall Washington, Brandon (Nina) Martin, Delode, Tazanay, and Camay Baylock,  Audree Starlard, Nijoel and Ani Ellis; (10) great-grandchildren; special friend, Ms. Sarah, as well as host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
