LEROY J.B. DAUGHERTY, JR.

Leroy JB Daugherty Jr. went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 7, 2025.

He was born on May 11, 1950, in Cleveland, OH, to the late Leroy Sr. and Bobbie Jean Daugherty. 

Leroy’s early years were spent attending John Burroughs and Andrew J. Rickoff Elementary Schools. He later graduated from John F. Kennedy High School. In 1972, Leroy enlisted in the United States Navy, where he proudly served on the USS Enterprise during the Vietnam War.

A devout servant of the Lord, Leroy spent many years attending Grace Cathedral Church, where he sang in the choir and volunteered in various ministries. He later attended River of Life Church, where he served as an associate pastor and was a dedicated member of the worship team.

Throughout his career, Leroy worked in various roles, including insurance sales and manufacturing. He retired from AVI Food Systems in 2020 after a fulfilling career. 

Leroy’s love for people was evident in every interaction—he never met a stranger and always had a joyful, witty, and sarcastic sense of humor that made everyone around him laugh. He loved telling jokes and stories in a playful and entertaining manner, bringing smiles to all who knew him.

Leroy’s loving and warm spirit will forever be in the hearts of his family, friends, and the many lives he touched. He was preceded in death by his parents Leroy Sr. and Bobbie Jean and siblings Terry, Renita, Phillip, and Gregory.

Leroy leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life his loving wife, Yavonda; children Leroy Daugherty III (Dr.Kelly), Harold Foster(Ilese), Lamar Daugherty and family and Alicia Daugherty; grandchildren Mikayla Foster, Blair Daugherty, Steven Daugherty, Trinidi Foster,  Kylee Daugherty and Bobby Nelson III, siblings Brenda Alvis (Reverend Donald), Shawnequa, Patrick, and Ernest; sisters-in-law Mary Daugherty and Tessie Douglass-Landon; aunt Deloris Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Leroy will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
