Leomer “Tip” Looney Motley, 90, of Canton, OH, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2022, at Meadow Wind Health Care Center in Massillon, OH.
She was born in Clanton, AL to Ben and Mimie (Dukes) Looney on October 30, 1931, the youngest of five children. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and united with Hopewell Baptist Church. After moving to Canton, she united with Antioch Baptist Church and was a member there for over 60 years.
After graduation from Alabama State College, she began her teaching career in Canton, OH. She was a substitute teacher for the Canton City Schools before securing a position with St. Louis Catholic School in Louisville, OH. She returned to Canton City Schools to teach 4th–6th grades at Washington School, the school from which she retired.
She was united in marriage to Leon E. Motley, Jr. on July 5, 1956. To that union, two daughters, Norma and Barbara, were born.
Leomer’s love of shopping, sweets and Pepsi was well known. She also enjoyed traveling to spend time with family. She will be remembered fondly by so many and her “Bless your heart” will be missed.
She is predeceased by her parents, siblings and a daughter, Barbara.
Leomer is survived by her husband of 65 years, Leon and her daughter, Norma (Columbus, OH); nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends, “sons”, “daughters” and other family.
