Larry Rodgers was born in Marshallville, Georgia to the late Rev. Lawrence and Louisa Rodgers on April 5, 1936. He passed away on July 29, 2022 after a long illness.
Larry, with family of brothers and sisters moved to the Akron area in 1948 and soon enlisted in the US Army on July 1, 1962, Honorably Discharged on April 30, 1964.
Afterwards, Larry worked various jobs, including Children’s Hospital for many years, but retiring from Ford Motors with over 40 years of service.
Larry Rodgers had many interests, he had a love for renovating homes, initiating business adventures, traveling and was a member of The Corvette Club in Akron for a number of years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Rev. Lawrence and Louisa Rodgers, brothers Hillie, Nathaniel, William, Willie B, and Michael Rodgers, sisters Hattie Mae, Evelyn, Peggy and Ernestine, daughter Teresa and son Robert.
He is survived by his sister Shirley Barkley, sisters-in-law Carrie Rodgers and Freda Rodgers, very special friend Brenda Robinson, sons Larry and Paul Rodgers, daughters Angela and Ursula Rodgers, granddaughters Nastashia and Tina, grandsons Sherdaryl and Larry and a host of countless dear nieces, nephew’s family and friends.
Larry never met a stranger and will be missed by all who knew him.
