KEVIN W. MERRITT

Kevin W. Merritt transitioned peacefully from his earthly home on October 20th, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. He is now resting comfortably in the arms of the Lord.

Kevin was born in Bronx, NY on September 25,1952 to the late Willie Merritt and Ardelia Wyatt. Kevin spent his formative years in Bronx, NY where he attended High School and later joined the U. S Military. Upon service completion Kevin relocated to Akron, Ohio where he worked for 15 years for the Veterans Affairs Hospital in different capacities. Kevin accepted Christ at an early age. 

Kevin was preceded in death by his mother Ardelia Wyatt, father Warren Merritt, brother Jeffery Wyatt, grandmother Cumilla Goodman and Special Aunt Carol Waite. 

Kevin leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife Corla Merritt for over 30 years.  Children, Joe Leroy Kevin Merritt of (NY, NY) Kesionna Harrison of (NY NY ), Ashley (Desmond) Boyd of Stow, Ohio. Stepdaughter Sherice (Edward) Hammond of Akron, Ohio. 

“Affectionately known as Big Pa.” by his Grandchildren, Blaike, (Thomas) Xavier, and Nathaniel Parker. Arien, Daylin Burton. Desmond Boyd Jr. And Jahlonte Pondexter. 

Siblings, Vanessa Adams, Michelle Wyatt, Leslie (David) Norrington, Cheryl Wyatt, Tracey (Tyrone) Edgerston.  Best friend Lanier Yarbrough and a host of nieces and nephews many more family and friends. Kevin was the life of the party always making everyone laugh with his witty sense of humor. 

Kevin loved watching sports especially football and basketball.  He also enjoyed spending time with his family and going back to his hometown the Bronx any chance he would get.
