Jaqueline Chandler Evans was called home on July 7, 2021 surrounded by family and friends. Born on May 31, 1954 to Jesse and Daisy Chandler in Cleveland. She graduated from East High School and went on to Mount Union College where she received her bachelor’s degree in sociology. After college she became a social worker for Cuyahoga county, and eventually retired from Summit County Children services. Jackie was a member at Centenary United Methodist Church where she served as: UMW president, secretary, and youth director. She married Terrance Evans Sr. on October 20, 1984.
Jackie was an avid traveler, loved reading and was always a willing volunteer. Jackie was awarded several honors including, Jack and Jill Mother of the Year as well as the Ohio Black Leadership Caucus. She was also a board member of Akron’s United Way and a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Society Inc.
Jaqueline is proceeded in death by father Jesse Chandler and brother Lemual “Ricky” Chandler. Jaqueline Chandler Evans was a loving wife, daughter, grandmother, sister and aunt.
Jaqueline Evans is survived by her husband Terrance Evans Sr., children Lillian Evans and Terrance Evans II, granddaughter Charlotte Evans, mother Daisy Chandler, siblings Maxine Chandler August, Gloria Chandler (Ronnie Thomas) and several nieces and nephews.
