Ivan L. Carter departed this life on Friday, August 1, 2025. Born September 30,1972, to the late Silas and Pearl Carter. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Silas Alan and Victor Carter Sr. and a host of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins who he loved dearly. Ivan leaves behind a legacy of family including, his nephew Victor (Lil’ Vic) Carter Jr., niece Chetania Davis, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, his special cousin Shrita Armstrong, and many other loved ones. Ivan, affectionately called “Sweet Ive” or “Ive C” by many, was a 1992 graduate of Mckinley Sr. High School, where he was known for his slanted slope 90’s haircut and his fashionable attire. Sweet Ive at one time was an excellent bowler, following in the footsteps of his father. He even achieved a high game of 300 and was awarded a ring for his accomplishment. He also loved spending time fishing with his boys. Although he did not have children of his own, Ivan enjoyed keeping the little ones entertained. He loved rough housing with them and getting them worked up. On occasion, even though he did not like to eat it, he could fry some of the best fish and grill some of the best ribs for family functions. Ivan had a caring, loving heart and it showed in the excellent care he gave to his parents during their time of need. Whether it was taking his father to dialysis, appointments, cooking breakfast so they could take their medication, or ensuring his mother had her favorite food, Lindsey’s chicken. He was very nurturing to his mother during her failing years. While she was in the nursing home, he was there daily to feed her, sit with her, and take her to every family function she wanted to attend. Sweet Ive and his cool, laid-back personality will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
