IDA SHEALY Obituary

Mama, also known as Baybee or Ida Mae Shealy by some of you, was born November 17, 1944, to the late Rosa Mae Taylor-Owens and William B. Hill, in the deep south of Montezuma, Georgia.  There was nothing fancy about those red clay roads-but it was home.  In 1959, she married the tall and charming Major (May Jack) Shealy.  Most of us know him as Dadda.  They moved into a small 1- bedroom shack with dirt floors and a wood burning stove on Mitchell Street.

In 1962 they gave birth to their first child, Linda Joyce Shealy.  Later came Frances Delores, Wyllesa Rena and Stayce LaMajor.  In 1973, they relocated to Akron, Ohio where Mama's mother Rosa Mae was living on Euclid Avenue.  In 1976, Mama gave birth to her last baby, Latricia Diane.  Mama was such a talented seamstress.  She hand-made her children's clothing when they were young.

Around 1987, the family moved to 440 Windsor.  In addition to running after her children, she loved to sit out on the lake and fish, grow all sorts of fruits and vegetables and hunt wild game.  It should not go without mentioning that she was the life of the party, where-ever she went!  Her beautiful hats, high heels and colorful wardrobe always left many speechless.  Mama loved God and family.  She'd do anything for all of us and frequently reminded us that we "came from her".

Remaining are her 3 children, Frances (Johnny) Tillman, Wyllesa (Charles) Woodruff and Stayce (Yolanda) Shealy, 12 grandchildren, and A Lot of great grandchildren.  She also has a host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Major, and daughters, Linda (Dia) and Latricia (Mook) Shealy.

We all will sorely miss her presence, laugh and smile.

Rest well Mama...
