Mother Evelyn Louise Fennell, 92, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on November 27, 2020. Evelyn was the fifth child born on October 4, 1928 in Seguin, TX to Thomas and Marion Fennell. She attended Sam Huston College in Austin, TX.. Mother Fennell was a very active member of the Barberton community where she has lived since 1967. Mother Evelyn was a proud and faithful member of Livingstone Baptist Church also located in Barberton, OH. Evelyn was employed at Babcox & Wilcox for over 30 years.
Mother Evelyn was a lifelong member of the NAACP and had been an active member for over 60 years. She was also recognized for being a “Special Friend” of Decker Development Center working with special needs children. Mother Fennell was a part of many different organizations including Meals on Wheels, The Baptist Women’s Ministries of downtown Barberton, Silver Sneakers at the YMCA, the Neighborhood conservation services of Housing for South Barberton, The Board of Elections Office, The Alblee Webb Park South Barberton improvement council and she also attended Barberton City Council meetings for over 25 years. Mother Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Marion Fennell; sisters, Sarah Walker, Betty Jefferson and Ruth Scott; and brothers, Clifford Fennell, Sr. and Frank Fennell, Sr..
Mother Evelyn leaves to forever cherish her loving memory, daughters, Patricia Fennell and June Thomas, both of San Antonio, TX, and Phyllis Fennell of Barberton, OH; grandson, Joshua Thomas of San Antonio, TX; sister, Marion Henderson of Seguin, TX; sister-in-law, Bettye Jo Fennell of Columbia, MD; special nieces, Marion Gildart of Chicago, IL and Elaine Walker of Cincinnati, OH; Godson, Willie Jenkins; God-granddaughter, Chavonne Gaines and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The family would like to thank the Livingstone Baptist Church Mother's Board and special longtime friends, Mother Mattie Wheeler, Mother Nancy Watkins, Mother Ruth Sims, Mother Juanita Vaughn and Family, Christine Flakes and family, Mildred Grayson, sister, Ella Mae Ingram, Kathleen Foster, Theresa Fennell, Valerie Sheppard, Robyn Neloms, Rayna Iverson, Yvonne Welch, Rashelle Burley and the Livingstone Baptist Church Usher Board.
