Eugene Moss was born on May 9, 1946 in East Prairie, Missouri. He was the sixth child of thirteen children born to Louis and Fannie Moss.
Eugene grew up in Missouri and worked on the family farm until he graduated from East Prairie High School. In 1965, at the age of 18, he enlisted in the United States Navy as a Personnelman, where his military travels took him to Newfoundland, Italy and Virginia. He was honorably discharged in 1969 with a rank of E-3.
In 1971, Eugene and Marva Sloan were married in Philadelphia, Pa., her hometown; they went on to reside in Washington, D.C.
From this union three children were born - Kendra Glenise Moss (Nolley), LeNita Katrice Moss and Roderick Eugene Moss.
Eugene embarked on a successful career with the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Area Transportation Authority, where he was promoted from bus operator to train operator to rail transportation supervisor. He retired in 2001 after 30 years of service. Other career milestones included Line Operator at U.S. Concrete Pipe Company, Travel Agent at Rodgers Travel Bureau and Computer Tape Distributor at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center.
Eugene loved fishing, listening to his extensive music collection and engaging in spirited debates.
Eugene departed this life on Wednesday, September 29, 2021. He is preceded in death by his Parents - Louis and Fannie Moss; Brothers - John Henry Moss, Robert Moss and Gerald Moss; Sisters - Clara Fonville, Estell Moss and Twilla Moss.
He leaves to celebrate his life and memories: Daughters - Kendra (Harold) Moss Nolley, LeNita Moss; Son - Roderick Moss; Sisters - Ernestine Gladney, Hazel Moss and Betty Austin; Brothers - James (Rosemary) Moss, Carl (Sabrina) Moss, Nathaniel Moss and a host of Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, extended Family and Friends.
