On Friday, January 24, 2025, Essie Lula King passed away peacefully at Aultman Compassionate Care Center. She was born on September 18, 1935, in Siloam, Georgia, her childhood home; and then moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee in her teen years, where she attended and graduated high school. She worked as a babysitter for a couple years before moving with her mother and sister where they resided together in Canton, Ohio. Once in Canton, she got a job at Aultman Hospital where she worked in food service as a cook. She was a dedicated employee over 40 years until retirement. She loved crocheting and shopping and trying her hand at the slot machines at the casinos. Her favorite past time was bowling. She had numerous championships as an individual and team player. She is preceded in death by her mother, Essie ‘Shorty’ King; and Florence ‘Sista’ Montgomery. She leaves one daughter and caregiver, Jessica King; one grandson, Jacob King whom where her lifelines and the true loves of her life; her nephew, Fritz Montgomery; and a host of family and friends.
