Eddie was born to Leanna and Edward, Sr. on January 25, 1953 in Akron, Ohio. He attended Akron Public Schools, graduating from Central-Hower High School in 1971. Eddie attended the University of Akron, majoring in Drafting and Engineering. He soon left college and jumped into the workforce. He began his career working at the family owned business, Mr. Pantry. Later, he worked at Home Center. He quickly landed his final job at Coca-Cola where he worked for 25 years and retired in 2003.
Eddie loved listening to music and attending concerts. His favorite group of all time was The Temptations. He actually thought he was an honorary member! Other than music, Eddie loved visiting and talking with family and friends. He could spend the entire day sitting on the porch shooting the breeze with his family and friends. If we talked about Eddie’s sense of humor, we would be here all day. It was sometimes dry, dark, witty and most of the time inappropriate, but he always found humor in any and all situations. He also loved watching sports, as there was always a game playing on his television. Eddie also loved to eat! Barbecue was not safe around Eddie al all and he could surely make a mean pound cake! Food, family, friends and sports were all Eddie needed to make his world go around.
Eddie was the epitome of strength, both mental and physical. In his younger years, he played football, baseball, basketball and ran track. Even into adulthood, he joined the occasional baseball league and later on, he was always up for a game of cornhole. He was rarely sick; sometimes going for years before even catching a cold. However, in February of 2020, that all changed. Eddie battled a series of illnesses one after another- Sepsis, Rhabdomyolysis, Multiple Myeloma, Amyloidosis, Coronavirus and MRSA. His heart and mind were ready for battle, however, his body was just too tired. He left us on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 9:15 pm.
Eddie is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Albert and Estelle Davis; maternal grandparents, Dewey and Thelma Ford; father, Edward Davis, Sr.; step father, Ernest Hickman and brother, Roderick Hickman, Sr. Eddie leaves to celebrate his life, mother, Leanna Hickman; brothers, Stanley Davis, Sr. (Charlotte); Dwayne Hickman, Sr. (Phaedra); and Darryl Hickman, Sr. (Larae); sisters, Skylar Parsons and Jammi Robinson; children, Antoine Davis and Brandi Davis; grandson, Trey Kostra; and a host of family and friends.
