DOUGLAS TAYLOR Obituary

Douglas Taylor a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully on   September 27, 2025. Son of Bennie and Lubedia (Moss-Taylor) born of this union on October 1, 1949.  He was raised in Akron and attended Akron public schools. Affectionately known as "Greese" and for his comical spirit and endless humor, Douglas had a gift for bringing laughter to any room he entered. A proud U.S. Army Veteran, Douglas served his country with honor and   dedication, receiving a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service, and Campaign Medal, concluding with the benefits of an honorable discharge.  After his military service he continued his hard-working ways and retired from Motor Wheel where he built lasting friendships and earned the respect of those who worked alongside him. Douglas was also recognized for his sharp sense of style.  Rarely seen in jeans and sneakers, he carried himself with dignity and polish, that matched his vibrant personality.  Above all Douglas loved his family deeply.  He devoted his life to caring for his loved ones and cherished the time he spent with both family and friends.  His warmth, humor, and love will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. 

Douglas is preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Lubedia; brothers, Roy and Robert Taylor, Freddie Griffin; sisters, Sharon Louise Hardrick, Viola Jean Haley, and Peggy Taylor; father-in-law, Willie Oden and mother -in-law, Roshell Robins. 

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, Gina Taylor.  His legacy will continue through his children, Douglas (Michele) Taylor, De’Anna Taylor, Devin (Monique) Taylor, Ilea Taylor; bonus children, Shannetta, Asia Taylor, Deshonda and Tanika Oden; (9) grandchildren, (6) bonus grandchildren, (1) bonus great grandchild; siblings, Bennie Taylor Jr., Veda (Walter) Barnett,     Darcell Carroll, Carla, Caren, Chonita Taylor; mother-in-law, Dorothy Oden; brothers-in-law, Stephen Oden, Earl (Alvina) Ashford; sisters-in-law, Twyla Haughton, Marla Oden, Veralyn (Lenier) Hawthorne, and two special people who played a part in his life, Marie Taylor and Linda Richardson,  as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends,  

He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, strength, and love that will continue to inspire his family for generation to come.
