Dorothy Mae Becton, earned her wings and entered the gates of heaven on January 5, 2021, while at Western Reserve Hospital in Cleveland Ohio at the age of 89. Dorothy was born August 24, 1931 in Memphis Tennessee to the late union of Samuel and Armittie Guy, She was educated in the Tennessee Public School System and accepted Christ our Lord and Savior and also baptized at an early age. Dorothy was a dedicated member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Robert Golson. Upon moving to Akron, OH she worked as a dietician and she then pursued her passion of becoming a licensed beautician after graduating from Washington Beauty Academy.
Dorothy was united in holy matrimony to Ed W. Becton on March 18, 1948. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ed W. Becton, eldest daughter Barbara Zanders, her only son Ed W. Becton Jr. granddaughter Ahari Spaulding-Salal, great grandchildren Mychal Clayton, and Khadijah Rahman. Dorothy was one of 12 siblings of which ten (10) has preceded her in death, Melvin Guy, Myrtle Johnson, Charles (Mutt) Guy, Elvia Lee Tucker, Paul Guy, Morgan Guy, Howard Guy, Eugene Guy, Samuel Guy and Roscco (Sunny) Guy
She leaves to cherish her life, sister Lillian (Arthur) Branch of Memphis TN, children Ahari (Ruby Jean) Salal, Doris Clayton, Patricia Becton, all of Akron, OH, and Kimberly Becton of Atlanta, GA, a special grandson Anthony M. Becton, along with 17 grandchildren, Desiree (Grandville), Sunsharae (James), Nicole, Teare (Barry), Toka, Janice (Robert), Nyessa, Andre (LaTonya), Tameka, Tasheia, Ed W. III, Isma-el, Steven, Katika (Errick), Nelson, Meisha (Kevin), Tekeesha; 45 great-great grandchildren, and a host of , nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
