DORETHA JAMES

Doretha James, age 73, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama peacefully passed away May 28, 2025 in the presence of Jesus Christ and her loved ones.

Born October 17, 1951 to the late Elmore James Sr. and Dorine Dukes.  Dorotha will be profoundly missed as she embarks on a journey to honor her life and legacy alongside her brothers, Jimmy James, Buddy James, Phillip James, and J.W. James, as well as her great granddaughter and her true love Wardell. 

Doretha is survived by her sister, Loretha James; brothers, Caddis (Brenda) James, Emore James Sr., and J.P.  She leaves to cherish her precious memory her (4) children, Freda (Michael) James, Anthony (Sharee) James, Willie James, and Marcus James; her legacy of (30) grandchildren, (20) great grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces and nephews; special acknowledgement to Antwon Matthews, John L. Jones, Shirlene Singleton, Gladys Green, Vicki Brown, and Alma “Punkin” Baily.  Doretha’s warm personality fostered many meaningful connections and she enjoyed spending time with all of those she loved.
