Dianne Swain Giles was born March 17, 1952 to the late Bertha Mae Swain and Emford Garrett. She attended the public schools of Talladega County and was a graduate of Childersburg High School. In 1970 she moved to Akron, Ohio which she eventually called home. She was united in Holy Matrimony to her lifelong partner, Milton Giles on July 14, 2014.
Dianne received her certification in Medical Assistance and worked at Little Forest Nursing Home while being a devoted mother to her 3 children. She later became a Home Health Care provider for the State of Ohio, working in this field for over 20 years. She enjoyed working every day to help clients manage daily living in the comfort of their own homes.
She was a dedicated member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church where she served faithfully in many church activities, including the Usher Board, Women’s Committee and Children’s Ministry. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality. She was loved by many. Her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her.
Dianne, 69 years of age, departed this life Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Akron General Hospital in Akron, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Giles; parents, Betha Mae Swain and Emford Garrett; brother, Sam Swain; grandson, Jeremiah Jackson; great-granddaughter, Janaya M. Swain.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children Anjanette (Johnny) Swain and Lawrence (LaTeeka) Swain, Sr. of Akron, Ohio; Valerie (Ronald) Jackson of Columbus, Ohio; stepchildren, Milton L. Giles III and Daneen (Fate) Davis of Akron, Ohio; sisters, Linda Swain of Akron, Ohio; Ella B. Garrett of New York, New York, Minnie (Joe) Powell and Barbara B. Garrett of Alpine, Alabama; brothers, Samuel (Yvette) Swain and Daniel (Yolanda) Swain of Akron, Ohio, Lee Curtis (Joann) Swain of Alpine, Alabama and John Garrett of New York, New York; sister-in-law, Jill Swain of Akron, Ohio; Desetta Dixon of Akron, Ohio who was considered a sister; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
