Darren Jimmie Salaam, Sr (DJ/Fidge Loc) was born on October 14, 1984 in Akron, Ohio to Talisa Salaam and Timothy D. Brown. He passed away unexpectedly on May 30, 2021, with his son by his side.
He was baptized at an early age at Saint Luke Baptist Church under the late reverend Curtis Lockett.
He attended Akron Public School, receiving his GED in 2007. He also attended Herzing University and the University of Akron.
He was an awesome father, son, brother, and uncle who loved fashion and his family. He was an avid football fan. The Ohio State Buckeyes and Tampa Bay Buccaneers were his favorite teams. He also coached for the little league football teams, Akron Titans, Akron Bengals and the Blimp City Bears.
He is preceded in death by his son, Davieon Frazier; father, Timothy D. Brown; uncle, Markan Salaam; grandparents, Daa’Iyah (Kitty) Salaam, Calvin Thomas, Barbara Ann and Jimmy Brown, Sr.; great grandmothers, Rosie Richardson and Josephine Hatcher.
He leaves to cherish his memory, loving mother, Talisa Salaam (Morris Fain); loving brother, Demetrius Salaam, Sr. (Erica); grandfather, Aqin Salaam; five loving children, Darren, Jr., Damackus, Damoni, Dayvieonte, and Dayna Salaam; mother of his children Dana Frazier; special second mother, Dortha (Dodie) Frazier; aunts, Lutania Ladson, Sharon (Liddel) Brown, Cynthia Salaam (Anthony Guthrie), Chandra Salaam and Kimberly Brown; uncles, Jimmy Brown, Jr., Glenn Campbell, Rickey Campbell; specail uncles, Nathaniel Richardson, Jr. (PJ) and Jose Rentas, Sr; loving nephew, Demetrius Salaam, Jr.; nieces, D’Erykah and D’Asia Salaam; special cousin/nieces, Marce, Ne’Vaeh, and A’mira Salaam; special sisters and brothers, Daa’iyah (Dena) Salaam, Starr Salaam, Shawntay Hill, Marion Fain, Glenn (Deuce) Sheffield, Antwoine (Nuk) Sheffield, and Tony Shellman, Sr.; God son, Tony Shellman, Jr.; special cousins, Jerray Brown, Anthony Cook, Sr., Jose Rentas, Jr., and other cousins he loved dearly, Willy, Bam, Travontae, Marcus, Chris, Angel, Camille, Aneese, Laytona, Kyesha, Kyra, Kayla, and Jabree; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends.
