On Sunday, June 6, 2021, Daniel C. Summers departed this life to be with his Heavenly Father.
Daniel Summers was born April 19, 1950 to William E. and Arizona Summers. He went to Wells Elementary and graduated from McKinley Senior High School in 1969. While at McKinley he played tight end for the football team, wearing the number 84 on his jersey. He was one of the best tight ends in the state. He earned a full ride athletic scholarship to Bluffton University. On July 15, 1972, Dan married his wife of 48 years, Elizabeth Williams. To this union four children were born, Danielle, Adonnica, Daniel R., and Dontaryl. He worked many years at Diebold and finished his work tenure at Hercules Engine in 1998. Dan was a devoted husband and father. He instilled the value of education to all of his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was most proud of watching his children fulfill their greatest accomplishments. While he loved all of his grandchildren the same, Naz-Yiere was his everything.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Anna Wall, Mary Lena Jackson, and Roberta Summers; brothers, Robert Summers, Dr. David Summers, John Summers, James Fletcher, Bruce Fletcher, Brady Summers, and brother-in-law, Rufus Jackson.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Summers; daughters, Danielle Summers, Adonnica Summers (Jason Taylor) of Monrovia, California, Vanessa Ducksworth; sons, Daniel R. Summers (Kayla Slabuagh), Dontaryl Summers (Rachelle), William Summers; grandchildren, Jordan Nutter, Naz-Yiere Summers, Alexander Smith, Maleihya Streeter, Celina Summers, Dontaryl Summers Jr., and Kaydan Summers; brother, C.M.S. William Summers (Delores) of Midwest City Oklahoma; sisters-in-law, Ernestine Summers of State College, Pennsylvania, Diana Faniel of Altadena, California, Idella Williams, Johnetta Williams, and Shirlene Paletto; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
