CURTIS LOWERY Obituary

Curtis Lee Lowery was born October 13, 1948 in Massillon, Ohio, to the late Donald and Mozell Lowery. Raised in a Christian home with an emphasis on God, Family and Love. His mother raised her children to stick close to one another and to always honor their family bond. Curtis was a graduate of Washington High school in Massillon, Ohio. Upon graduating from high school Curtis joined the U.S. Navy in November of 1969. He served as a firefighter. Curtis was honorably discharged from the navy in 1971; then returned to Massillon, Ohio where he began working for the Timken company. After working at various other companies, he retired in 2013. In 1987, Curtis met, fell in love and married the love of his life, Myra Jenkins in Massillon, Ohio. Together, they built a union of love and devotion for almost 40 years. Curtis loved his wife and family with a passion. He was a lover of life. He enjoyed playing and listening to the blues and old school R&B music. Curtis loved playing his guitars, dancing and singing karaoke with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling to various locations to visit his family. Curtis Lee Lowery departed this world December 3, 2024 with Myra at his bedside. He is preceded in death by his parents; both brothers and best friends, Otis (Deborah) Lowery and Rudolph (Ruby) Lowery; his loving sisters, Mae Helen (Nathaniel) Dockery, Thelma Peterson and Yvonne (Gerald) Lowe. He leaves to cherish his memories of love to his devoted wife of 37 years, Myra E. Lowery; 2 beautiful daughters, Delphonia Renee (Keith) Leotard and Camille Yvette Lowery, both of Tampa, FL; his loving sisters, Betty (James) Robinson of Atlanta, GA, Brenda Lowery of Dayton, OH, and Linda Lowery of Springfield, OH; stepchildren, India Jenkins of Canton, OH, Kendle (Kim) Jenkins of Houston, TX and Paul Owens of Brunswick, OH; 6 grandchildren, Darian (Princess) Buford of Tampa, FL, Damion Buford of Fountain, CO, Kendra (Robert) Long of Houston, TX, Kendle Jenkins II of Austin, TX, Olivia Owens of New Bedford, MA, and John Owens of Connecticut; eight great-grands and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that he loved very much. Curtis was his own man. He loved and lived life on his own terms. He had compassion for his family and friends; and was a very generous and caring person. He just kept you laughing by the way he expressed himself. He had a lot of truth in his expressions. Curtis will be loved and missed by all who knew him!
