CHARLES DAWSON WILLIAMS of Canton Ohio transitioned peacefully on May 8, 2023 at the age of ninety-three years.
CHARLES was born July 1, 1929 in Keen, KY unto (the late) Jeannette Hughes and John P. Williams.
HE worked as a horse-handler at the Kentucky Derby (as well as a farm- hand).
CHARLES relocated to New York, NY and then decided to reside permanently (eighty- six years) in Canton, OH where he attended Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church.
HE worked as a truck driver for Republic Steel for thirty-five years. CHARLES was preceded in death by his previous wife Juanita Williams.
CHARLES loved ALL of his family & friends. HE celebrated everyone's birthday as he never forgot the birthdates of the family members.
CHARLES always cooked his meals and Wednesday was always fish fry takeout dinners (in shifts). Sunday dinners always included: his famous fried chicken and baked pineapple upside down cake, chocolate cake, cheesecake, cupcakes, orange & pineapple cookies, etc…There was nothing that CHARLES wouldn't do for ANYONE.
CHARLES loved caring for his lawn daily. HE would climb trees & his rooftop with no problem to maintain its beauty. Neighbors knew CHARLES as a giver and friend as HE donated to many charitable organizations for many years.
CHARLES is survived by: his dear wife Charlotte Williams, a sister Ida Brown (Cleveland, OH), a daughter Lady Christine (Pastor Kenneth) Lancaster (Canton, OH), Laverne Steel (Canton, OH) and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and friends.
