BRENDA BURCH Obituary

Brenda Cheryl (Broy) Burch came into this world on August 23, 1952 in Tacoma, Washington to Arnethia and George L. Broy, Jr.  She transcended her earthly body on March 19, 2020.

Brenda graduated from McKinley High School in 1971 where she excelled in athletics, particularly track and field. Brenda was the definition of an avid lifelong Bulldog fan. Even as she took her last breath, she gladly noticed her family wearing some semblance of her favorite colors red and black.

Once Brenda entered the workforce, she had an unmatched work ethic. She acquired her first job as soon as she could obtain a work permit at age 16. Brenda always wanted to be able to manage her own money and provide her own way. As an adult, she   labored in factories for over 35 years. While working fulltime, Brenda returned to school to earn a Computerized Machinist certification from Stark Tech.

At the age of 19, Brenda moved to Champaign, IL. While living there for three years, she and her husband birthed their first son. Brenda was married to Clarence B. Burch for 19 years. From that union, she became a doting mother to three sons: Clarence, Kevin, and Cedric. Her sons gave her 18 grandchildren, and Brenda loved to joke that they were fruitful and multiplied. She was overjoyed at the arrival of her two great-grandchildren, as well.

Brenda was lifelong member of Bethel C.M.E. Church where she served as an exalter, president of the Senior Choir, and the vice president of the Stewardess Board. Brenda’s favorite Bible passage was Psalms 121:1-2, “I will lift up mine eyes to the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.”

In her spare time, Brenda took pleasure in swimming, dancing, and playing cards,  specifically spades and bid whist. She also enjoyed singing as a soprano in a multitude of community choirs. Above all, Brenda loved lending a helping hand when she could and spending time with her family.
