Bettye (Baskin) Grant, age 75, went home to be with The Lord, November, 6, 2023. She was born in Egypt, Mississippi, January 7, 1948. Bettye graduated from McKinley Senior High School, and the University of Colorado. She retired from Stark County DD (Board of Developmental Disabilities).
Bettye was a devoted and faithful member to True Light Christian Ministries, under the direction of Pastor Gary Martin, honoring new leadership under Pastor Tomier T. Davenport. She was also a charter member of Union Baptist Church, under the direction of Pastor Sherman Martin. Bettye loved The Lord through her service to the church and her community. She showed her love through many ministries and committee's such as, Angels Ministry, Women of Wisdom Ministry, Ladies of Light Ministry, the Children's Ministry; getting her start as a church nurse for years and years. She was a prayer warrior for the Friday Night - Intercessory Women’s Prayer Ministry for over 10 years; and she served on the Pregnancy Support Ministry.
Bettye was a distinguished member of The Red Chapeau Divas Red Hat Society, (aka.: The Red Hatters). She loved collecting antiques, her family, her friends, and serving The Lord.
Bettye was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac Grant; parents, Nora and Herron Baskin; her father, Jon Baskin; stepson, Tommy Alexander; sister, Evelyne Smith; brother, Larry Baskin; and nephews Michael Roberson Sr. and Larry Parks.
Bettye leaves behind to cherish her loving memories, her two daughters, Marla Baskin-Ford, Cyndee (Baskin) Averette; son-in-law, Charles Ford Sr; seven grandchildren, Courtney Baskin, Jon Baskin, Charles Ford Jr, Shawn Averette, Jr, Brianna Baskin, Ray Johnson III, and Omarion Ford; great-grandchildren, also known as her "Little People", Correz, Sylena, Leah, Antwane (AJ), Cyncere, Aaliyah, Anthony, Amiyah, and Ason; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Gerri Taylor; special sons, Timothy (Flolita) Fentress, Jonathan (Tammy) Swint, and Barry (Pat) Willis. Spiritual son, Michael Freeman Sr.; BFF, Margaret Johnson; special neighbor, Ida Beale; lifelong friend, Nikki (Frannie) Tavares; extended family, The Elliott's; and special sisters, Cassandra Diane Tate and Frances Tate; as well as many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
