BARBARA JEAN NORWOOD

Barbara J. Norwood, 82, of Canton, Ohio, gained her wings on December 26, 2021.  Barbara was born on February 5, 1939 in Jackson, Mississippi.  She is the daughter of Leander Stewart and Florence Carr.  She was oldest of three children.  Her brothers were Denval Carr and Frank Lacy.  Her beloved grandmother, who helped raise her was Blanche Stewart, who the family loved dearly.  She is preceded in death by her late husband Echo Norwood and son William Davis Jr.  She first became a wife in 1956 as she wed William Stover Davis.  This is when the Davis children were born.  Her children are Kay Wright Jean Campbell, Mary Davis, Charles Davis, and James Davis.  Barbara has 14 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren that will carry on her legacy.

She was known as the woman on 9th St.  Everyone that passed her house beeped their horn to say, “Hi”, Barbara was known to many as an outspoken, truth telling individual.  She made many friends at Cowgill’s Flower Shop and United Bank where she worked many years.  Barbara stopped working when she retired Colonial Nursing Home. 

Barbara was a praying woman who loved the Lord.  She was a member of St. Mark Baptist Church for over 60 years.  She loved to listen to prayer and talk about the Bible.  An avid CNN watcher, she could talk about  politics all day long.  She would often say that Barack Obama was still  her President and Michelle Obama was still her first lady.  She was also a huge fan of Lebron James.  Her favorite game show was The Beast.

She will be greatly missed!  Indeed, was her favorite word and she was loved, INDEED!
