ADOLPH RODGERS Obituary

Adolph Rodgers, age 70, affectionately known as “Doc”, transitioned from this earthly life to his heavenly home on March 15, 2023, after a long battle with pulmonary complications at Akron City Hospital. Adolph “Doc” was born on January 28, 1953, in Meadville, Mississippi. He is the second oldest of five children born to Carrie Lee Rodgers and the late Carrel Rodgers, both of Meadville, Mississippi. The “Doctor” grew up in Akron OH and attended the Akron public school system. He was employed briefly with the City of Akron and the Railroad System before he was permanently disabled. He was a lifelong supporter of Frank Avenue Worship Center in Barberton, OH. Later in life Adolph accepted Christ. Doc was a tinkerer of sorts who fancied himself as a jack of all trades and could always be relied upon to fix the occasional electrical or mechanical device… whether it needed it or not. His hobbies included recording music, watching movies and eating Mom’s home cooked meals. Doc was an avid sports enthusiast and shared an interest in almost all sports, March Madness being his favorite. Doc knew his Soap Operas and could debate politics with the best of them. He was truly blessed and will be surely missed. Adolph was preceded in death by his father, Carrel Rodgers and brother, John “Tweet” Rodgers. He leaves to cherish his memory; his loving mother, Carrie Lee Rodgers; brother, Louis (Goldie) Rodgers of Las Vegas, NV; sisters, Diane Rodgers and Marilyn Faye Rodgers of Akron OH; aunts; Naomi Fleming of Natchez, MS and Ruth Dickens of Coles, MS; uncles, LeeDale Rodgers of Coles, MS and Wallace (Arcola) Rodgers of Chicago, IL; nephews, David Rodgers, Kyle Sykes, and Marcus Snyder all of Akron, OH, Alonzo K. Rodgers of San Francisco, CA, Andre Bethea of Raton, NM and Christopher Bethea of Clovis, CA; nieces, Kari LeAngel Rodgers of Columbus, OH, Dr. Sharon Lynne Bethea of Chicago, IL, Linda (Precious) Hill of Akron Ohio; good friend, Woodie and family, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Condolences for the family may be sent to 818 Dover Ave. Akron, Ohio 44320.
