Annie’s sunrise began on March 31, 1942 to the parents of the late Edna Frazier Sanders and Junior Flowers in Brundridge, Alabama.
Annie graduated from Pike County High School. She retired from Carlisle Engineering and continued employment with Key Bank. She was a very faithful member of Mt. Pleasant where she served as a trustee.
For 53 years, Annie was a devoted, caring, and loving wife to the love of her life, Charles Gates Sr. From this union three beautiful children were born, Carlesia, Calandra, and Daphane.
In addition to her parents, Annie is preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Shotgun” Gates Sr.; son, Charles “Chuckie” Gates Jr.; grandparents, Charles ( Mae Anna) Snell; brothers, John Johnson, Bobby Flowers, Leon Flowers; grandson , Cory McDonald.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory her (3) daughters, Carlesia and Calandra Gates, Daphane (Kenneth) Solomon; brothers, James Johnson, Arthur (Linda) Johnson, LaVonne Flowers and Timothy Flowers; sister, Jean Flowers; grandchildren, Ashley Brewer, Ryan Gates, Charles Gates III, Jerome Dedrick, Jeremiah Gates, Di-Andre Armstead-Gates, Cherish McDonald, Marcus McDonald; (11) great-grandchildren.
