ALTERMEASE A. MARSH "MISSY"

Altermease Anita Marsh, 64, transitioned peacefully from this life to her Eternal Home with the Lord on August 16, 2023. Altermease, who was affectionately called “Missy” by her family and friends, was born December 17, 1958 in Akron, OH to Elias and Mary Alford.  She was one of seven siblings and the youngest daughter. Missy graduated from St. Vincent-St. Mary High School and went on to study to be an LPN. She later returned to school and became a Registered Nurse. Missy worked for Summa Health Systems and Select Specialty Hospital for many years with her last position being a RN Renal Case Manager. She invested significant time, energy, and commitment to perfecting her gift of serving others through nursing. Missy’s passion for nursing was increasingly unmatched by others and she received awards for acts of service. 

Missy married the love of her life, Johnny Marsh, on May 23, 1981, and their love story blossomed for over 42 years. To this union, two beautiful daughters were born: Lauren Patrice and Lindsay Janay.

Mother Missy was a devoted member of New Millennium House of Prayer where she served faithfully as Lead Nurse and on the Mother’s Board. She was a mentor to many of the young adults in the church and loved to fellowship with the women of the congregation. She was called to serve and was passionate about helping others. Missy served diligently in Priscilla’s Lost and Found Ministry and assisted her daughters as the dedicated  “Step Mom” of Firestone Dance and Step Team (FDST).

Missy had a generous spirit. She was an avid shopper and enjoyed purchasing the perfect gift for others. She was an international traveler and took many cruises with her husband and trips with her beloved family and friends. Missy had style, and loved to dress in the latest fashions and brands. 

Through all of the trials and tribulations Missy faced, she demonstrated resilience and grace as she tackled each obstacle. Missy suffered her first stroke in 2013 and walked out of the hospital only 3 days later. Over her lifetime, she battled 5 strokes, 3 TIAs (ministrokes), 1 massive heart attack, COVID-19 and many other health related issues. However, her faith in GOD never failed. Her smile was persistent and she never complained. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, godmother, mentor, cousin, and friend. She was a testimony to God’s grace and His miracles.

She was preceded in death by her parents Elias and Mary Alford and her sister Deborah Alford. Missy leaves to cherish her passing devoted husband Johnny Marsh. She also leaves her daughters Lauren and Lindsay Marsh, grandson Johnny Marsh, Mother in Love Johnny Marie Thomas, sister Michele (Leonard) Jones, sister in Christ Kathleen (Jerry) Turner, brothers Sherry “Bo”, Felix Tyrone (Alice), Todd (Pam), all of Akron, and Brad (Eileen) of California. Extended family includes grandpuppy Remy, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
