Yvette R.
Ruiz
Feb 3, 1969 — May 2, 2026
Obituary: Yvette ReNee Ruiz, age 57, was called home on Saturday May 2nd, 2026. She was lovingly known as “Vette” and was born on February 3rd, 1969 in Akron, Ohio, a daughter to Lolita Carmenina Ruiz and Gene Autry Taylor Sr.
We celebrate the life of the beloved Yvette, a woman whose spirit was as beautiful as she was. Encapsulating the abundance of love, of generosity, of beauty, and of loyalty in Yvette is almost impossible to do. To capture all of who she is and the entirety of what she meant to those who had the honor of loving her is no easy feat. What words could we use to truly speak of the woman that she was, that would convey the way she makes your heart and soul feel! Do those words even exist or are they forever held in the warmth of her heart?
She was a proud 1987 graduate of Firestone High School. She was quick witted and funny and had one-liners that would have you laughing through the next week. You could catch her rocking a headband from her curated collection, and she took pride in all of her fashion. She loved when summer came around and she could plant all of her veggies and flowers in her garden, her green thumb sparked life into anything she touched. She was always down to brainstorm a new business venture with her life partner Snoop. She had a spirit that opened its door for all and no one even needed to ask. She was always a phone call away and the very first thing you’d hear her say was “Girrrrrl” and ready to tell you what’s on her mind. Even if she wasn’t physically present, you’d still feel her radiance and support all around you. She might have come off as quiet to others, but when she spent quality time with those she loved, her bodacious personality shined bright! To her siblings, she was a confidant and everyone knew they could come to her. There would just be love and even if she didn’t have a solution to your problems, she’d offer her time to help you figure it out. She offered her nieces and nephews a home away from home, a place that would always have its door open if it was needed. It cannot be described how profound of a loss this is. If there was anyone who embodied Lolita’s energy, vivaciousness, empathy, and caring nature to her fullest, it was Yvette. She helped shape the world in a way where home was felt whenever she was near. She leaves earthside her life partner Elgert “Snoop” Grace and mother-in-love Doris “Dot” Grace.
She was a devoted and passionate mother to her six children Gregory Oliver, Jerrod Oliver, Deshawn Oliver, Imani Ruiz, Dezyre Grace, and Juel Grace. She was an even more nurturing grandmother to her 15 grandchildren Isaiah and Isaac Ruiz, Geon and Jaon Blair-Oliver, Morgan Booker, Jaedynn Howard, Kavon, Leona Williams, DeShawn Oliver Jr., Kaiden and Payton Oliver, Skylor Johnson, Deandre and Tynisha Murphy, and Clariyah Ruiz.
She was greeted spirit side by her parents Lolita C. Tucker, Gene A. Taylor Sr. and Willie Joe Tucker Sr., her brothers Charles “Micko” Snowden Sr., Willie Joe Tucker Jr., Martin Quinn Bobo, Courtney Brazil, Lawerence Wilbon, and her sister Charmie Tucker-Greene.
She will be missed deeply by her siblings Carmenina Ruiz, Anthony Gray, Donnie Ruiz “D. Roo”, Antoinette Anthony, Michael Carr, Marcus Ruiz, JoNetta Ruiz, Michelle Fleming, Tamiko Tucker, Brenda Fleming, Jody Tucker, Tiffany Finney, Kelly Dowdell-Prigmore, Lavern Wilbon, Mary Fleming, Jermaine Thomas, Bianca Taylor, Euniece Carter, and Autry Taylor Jr. Yvette also leaves to cherish her memory, a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces, great nephews who might say Auntie Vett is their favorite Auntie and a host of additional family members who will remember her warmth, her humor, and a radiant personality as well.
A piece of her will live on in each of our hearts and it’s our responsibility to continue to show that love to those around us. Yvette lived a life rooted in family, friendship, and service. She loved deeply, gave generously, and touched countless lives with her compassion, humor, and joyful spirit. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her. May her memory continue to be a blessing and a source of comfort to those she leaves behind.
