Wilhelmina Stokes Caughman was born August 25, 1923 in Akron Ohio to William Stokes and Mattie L. Wilkinson. She graduated from Akron Public Schools and Akron Beauty Academy, where she excelled as a Beautician here in the Akron and New York area. She did a lot of volunteer work in Harlem and received the Kennedy award for her volunteer work there. She also worked with a group who made and sent dolls to Africa. She received other numerous awards for her voluntarism. Wilhelmina was a devout Catholic and some of her hobbies were traveling, bowling, dancing, and she baked cakes for Sylvia's in New York City. She relocated back to Akron when Covid came into play and shut New York City down and when she came to visit Ohio, she always came bearing gifts. She was married to Leonard Caughman until his passing.
Wilhelmina was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters, Grace Streeter, Mattie L. Arnold, Carolyn Reed and Angelette Colvin; Brothers, George and William Stokes.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory, nephews, Kenneth Stokes I, Dennis Lee, Gregory Stokes; nieces, Dana LaGarde, Adrian and Kimberly.
She had the opportunity to enjoy second and third generations nieces and nephews.
