Walter O
Cox
February 22, 1976 – June 24, 2025
Walter O'Neil Cox was born February 22,1976 in Akron, Ohio to Larry and Shirley Cox.
Walter gained his wings suddenly, June 24, 2025. Walter also known as "Pookie", grew up in Akron, Ohio. He attended Akron Public Schools. He received his CDL Certification and also provided lawncare services. Walter loved driving semi-trucks. He thought he was the best driver, nobody could tell him anything different. Pookie played football for the Hawks and Buchtel High School. He enjoyed being around his family, bowling, fishing, and playing spades (as long as we played cutthroat). Pookie was cut a little different, he had to have his pizza with just cheese and his cheeseburgers plain.
Preceded in death by his father, Larry Cox; nephews, Lamonte Graves Jr. and Amir Miller.
He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Shirley Cox; sister, Annette (Robert) Edmondson; daughter, Nia (DaVonte) Bracy; son, Kahne Clayton; (4) grandchildren, Daijon Garrett, A'Yori Garrett, Zoe Clayton, and Kahne Clayton Jr.; aunts, Ersalene Cox- Shorter, Cinthia Cox-Wilson, both of Little Rock, Arkansas, Sylvialen (Charles) Pruitt of Newport, Arkansas, Jeanette Powell of Wagerville, Alabama; uncles, Verlenzie Cox of Canton, Ohio, Lacy Cox of Springfield, Ohio, Clarence (Virginia) Gillespie of Akron, Ohio; nephews, LaMonte Graves, LaMarr Graves (Roz) both of Akron, Ohio; nieces, LaQuita (Avery) Graves and LaRia Graves both of Akron, Ohio, and a very special friend, Marian Gillis, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
