Violet "Evelyn" (Torrence) Holloway was born on September 2, 1933 in Belmont, North Carolina to the late James and Exethel Torrence.

Affectionately known to all as "Evelyn" she attended McKinley High School.  She began her work career at The Canton Club and Cloverleaf.  In 1966, she began working for Timken Roller Bearing Company, retiring in 1994 with 28 years of dedicated service.

Evelyn married the late Leroy Tavares, from that union three beautiful daughters were born, Cassandra Bey, Pamela Hunter and Liz "Sweetie" Tavares (Bruce) McCreight.

In June of 1996, she married the now deceased Emerson Holloway.  They became avid travelers touring the country in  their motor home.

Evelyn's life was full of excitement!  Her love of fishing took her on many deep sea fishing trips as well as local and Canadian lakes, often traveling with her daughters or siblings.

Evelyn loved all sports, especially the Cleveland teams.  She sponsored "Ms. Evelyn's" softball team, while also playing.  Her love of bowling was not limited to being a sponsor, but a long standing active bowler. Most of her bowling years were spent with her sister Ruth and other family members as teammates.

Evelyn was preceded in death by brothers Alfred and Timothy Torrence, and grandson, Michael "Dack" Johnson.

Evelyn is survived by her (3) daughters: (6) grandchildren,; (8) great grandchildren, and (4) great grand -  children; (2) sisters, Ruth E. Ramos and Barbara Jean "Dubbie" Torrence; (2) brothers, Richard Torrence, Anthony "Tony" Torrence, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
