Vallie R. Hawkins, age 95, went home to be with the Lord on May 2, 2020.   Vallie retired from Mt. Union College where she was employed for over 30 years.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, all of her family loved her sweet potato pie.  She was very instrumental in raising her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was as faithful member of Second Baptist Church.

Preceded in death by her parents Henry and Mary Jane Lightner; sister, Elizabeth; (3) sons, Robert Hawkins, Velma Lee Lightner, and Lawrence Phillips; daughter, June Worley; (2) grandchildren, Angela Swoops and Rickie Worley; very special friend, Bill Jones.

Vallie is survived by her daughter Helen Smith of Canton, Ohio; son, Henry (Anglee) Hawkins; grandchildren, Patricia Grinter, James Grinter, Ronald Worley, Charles Worley, Kelly Hawkins, Carmela Cundiff, Robin Hancock, Saprina Allen, Miya Hancock, Freeman Hawkins, Miya Hawkins, Lauana Autery, Vallie Hawkins, Christian Mitchell and Ikasha Clark; (40) great grandchildren and (34) great-great grandchildren.
